Janel Kidd became interested in the brain and it's functioning through behavior and communication as she received her BA in Psychology from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon in 2005. She carried this interest through research positions at Oregon Health and Sciences University and the University of Washington where she completed her Master of Science degree in Medical Speech-Language Pathology in 2010. Professionally, Janel has enjoyed the opportunity of working across multiple settings including hospitals, schools, in-home care, and private practice, giving her a well-rounded approach to the field. She has served client populations from infants to elderly adults but is primarily drawn to working with children and teens. Janel is excited about working with kids with motor speech disorders, early-intervention needs,

selective mutism, velopharyngeal dysfunction, and social-pragmatic issues, among other communication disorders. She also has a special interest in feeding therapy, particularly serving children and families with sensory-based feeding issues. Janel is passionate about providing coordinated care by involving families in treatment planning and execution, as well as collaborating with a client's other providers to maximize results. Outside work, Janel enjoys chasing her twin toddlers around Moraga where she lives with her husband, Ian, and lovable dog, Russell.

Janel has a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and is licensed by the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance.
